WIDE LEG JEANS OUTFIT!
After spending the last two and a half years in an assortment of comfy leisurewear, the thought of sliding on some skinny jeans feels constraining, and it looks like I’m not the only one that feels this way.
Baggy and wide leg pants have become one of the newest pant trends for 2022 and, to be honest, it has got me a bit wrapped up in nostalgic memories from my youth when flared pants and grunge was cool.
Last fall both wide leg high rise jeans and low rise baggy pants were all over the runways for Spring Summer 2022, and ‘relaxed pants’ was definitely a collective theme in New York, Paris and Milan. I have seen fashion taste-makers like Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Rihanna all sport wide leg jean outfits and nothing feels more ‘right’ than following suit.
A quick rummage through my own closet had me pulling out a few different options for wide leg pants including a few high waisted culottes that totally fit this trend. I was missing the one thing I was after however, a great pair of wide leg high waisted jeans. So I got to work.

HOW TO STYLE WIDE LEG JEANS
Wide leg pants generally give you a slender appearance and even more so when paired with a high waisted design.
When going for a casual look I will pair my high wasted wide leg jeans with a baggy band t-shirt or cropped sweater and some sneakers. This is how I wear my wide leg jeans most of the time and it’s a comfortable upgrade from my usual leisurewear.
If I feel like dressing them up a little, I’ll add some heels and a micro bag with a pop of colour, a crop top, and an oversized trench coat. Alternatively, I’ve also seen people keep their sneakers, add a crop top and a cropped blazer jacket, put their hair in a low bun, add some sunnies, a microbe and some gold jewelry, and they’re off to the races.
If you’re not that into grunge I’d avoid buying any ripped wide leg pants but if you are, one super authentic way to go grunge with your wide leg pants is to shop vintage! There are so many options out there and when you score a unique pair of wide leg jeans they become one of the most coveted items in your closet. Also considering the environmental impact of producing jeans (it takes 7,500 litres of water to make one pair of jeans), you can feel good about it too.
